Spovel: concept for a novelty piece of cutlery.

A whimsical combination of a pair of objects with analogous structures but completely different sizes.

Process

The idea of this exercise was to identify common objects with analogous structures but with a different scale and/or function.
Naturally, I began by creating a fire hazard.

At the time, I was in quarantine in my college apartment, and I had a ridiculous little hot plate that I was using to cook boxed macaroni and cheese in a saucepan from my camping mess kit.

The ironing board is modeled off of the one my family has on the back of our laundry room door.

The saw is borne of frustration at the number of pen nibs I managed to ruin by dragging them along the edge of my metal ruler.

Have you ever accidentally pressed the button on a compact umbrella while the actual umbrella part was still tied closed? I imagine that such a function on a spatula would make pancakes a more interesting experience.

The rest of this is development of the spovel.
